Georgetown

Georgetown is a great destination for residents who want a quiet place to live while still having easy access to big-city amenities.

Welcome to Georgetown

A friendly and outdoorsy community with small-town charm.

As the growth in and around downtown Austin continues its upward trend, nearby communities like Georgetown have piggybacked off this growth. Georgetown is a great destination for residents who want a quiet place to live while still having easy access to big-city amenities.

The community of Georgetown is very historic. It offers lots of small-town charm and has a diverse population. While Georgetown certainly has an appeal to younger residents and new families looking to set down roots, it's also an ideal place for those looking to settle down during their golden years. Sun City is often dubbed the city-within-a-city and is an age-restricted community for residents who are 50 years and older.

Residents outside of the retirement community look forward to a wholesome place that caters to young professionals and homeowners. Many of the homes in Georgetown are traditional American styles and sit on spacious lots. Lots of space, contemporary designs, and peace and quiet make Georgetown a desirable community for residents throughout the Austin area.

Local Lifestyle

The local lifestyle in Georgetown is charming, connected, and welcoming. Because of the unique topography here, there are a number of outdoor activities residents enjoy. Hiking, exploring nature, and swimming are just a few popular recreational activities outdoor enthusiasts look forward to in Georgetown.

Because of its unique history, the town has an unspoken charm about it. It also helps that the community is pretty close-knit, allowing residents to really build a sense of community. Overall, life in Georgetown is slow-paced. However, being about 30 miles outside of Austin doesn't deter residents from driving into town to enjoy city living for the day.  Residents in Georgetown get the best of both worlds while having a spacious place to call home.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Even in a quaint and charming town like Georgetown, there are plenty of options to enjoy when it comes to shopping, dining out, and entertainment. Much of the action throughout the town can be found in Georgetown Square. This historic square is just as beautiful and eclectic as it is lively. The square offers a number of restaurants and mom-and-pop shops to choose from. There's even a local winery here, too.

Some popular restaurants residents enjoy include the upscale 600 Degrees Pizzeria and Drafthouse and the casual Tony and Luigi’s. Authentic flavors, local ingredients, and a great ambiance define these local establishments.

Throughout the town, specifically throughout the historic square, there are a number of boutiques to explore as well. Even if it's not to shop, the square is revered as one of the most beautiful main streets in all of Texas, and it's certainly a great place to stroll through, especially during the evening hours.

Things to Do

Although Georgetown is a charming community with small-town vibes, there are plenty of festivals and events to look forward to each year. One of the most popular festivals is the Red Poppy Festival. This annual event welcomes the beautiful red blooms by hosting a parade, family activities, live music, artisan and food vendors, and much more. The three-day festivities are some of the best ways to ring in the spring season while enjoying time with your neighbors, friends, and loved ones.

If you're looking for a fun way to enjoy the town with family and friends, stopping by San Gabriel Park and Blue Hole Park are great ways to do just that. These natural parks host an array of playgrounds, sports fields, community and recreation centers, and much more. Blue Hole Park is gorgeous, thanks to the scenic lagoon. The natural waterways are the perfect place to kick back and enjoy a hot summer’s day.

For even more enjoyment in the outdoors, a popular destination is Berry Springs Park and Preserve. The preserve is on the outskirts of Georgetown and runs alongside Berry Creek. On the preserve, patrons enjoy beautiful trees that outline the landscape. These trees make the perfect backdrop for a photo session or simply enjoying the outdoors. There's also a century-old heritage pecan grove that is as magnificent as it is historic. Visitors look forward to biking and hiking trails, fishing sites, a picnic area, a pavilion, and much more. Whether you want to explore the outdoors or host a special event of your own, this natural preserve serves as a stunning setting.
